Promise Place Designation

We are pleased to announce that Arts in Action has been named a “Promise Place,” a designation bestowed by the Five Promises for Children Foundation, an independent, non-profit foundation established in 2009 by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, III.

Being named a Promise Place “assures that we provide the five promises to the children of West Virginia, thereby reaffirming the governor’s commitment to supporting those resources that research verifies gives our young people the best opportunity to grow into caring, productive citizens.”

The Five Promises we have committed to keeping to the children of West Virginia are that each child knows that he/she:

  • has a caring adult in his/her life,
  • has a safe place to be,
  • has a healthy start, both physically and mentally,
  • has access to an effective education, and
  • the opportunity to give back and make a difference in the life of someone else.

The Five Promises for Children Foundation supports grant applications that focus on initiating one or more of the five promises so that the children of West Virginia are positively impacted for a brighter future.

We have also partnered with America’s Promise Alliance, which works in conjunction with the Five Promises for Children Foundation. The alliance works with local and state organizations to provide support for students to ensure that they graduate from high school and are ready to enter the workforce or college.
